Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data SaveMyCert (the “Service”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service.

1. Data we collect

• Account data: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile and email.
• Study activity: enrollments, lesson progress, practice and mock-exam results, streaks, and bookmarks — used to power your dashboard and readiness.
• Payment data: purchases are sold and processed by Polar, our merchant of record, who collects your billing and card details directly. We store only a payment record (amount, certification, status and order reference) and never see or store your card number.
• Technical data: a first-party cookie for your session, an anonymous identifier used to meter free usage, and standard server logs.

2. How we use it

• To provide the Service: authentication, access control, and your study experience.
• To process payments and grant the access you purchased.
• To send account email (e.g. password resets), which you cannot switch off while you have an account.
• To send study email about the certifications you are enrolled in: getting-started tips, reminders when you have not studied for a while, exam-date countdowns and, where relevant, what the paid plan for that certification includes. These are on when you register, as we tell you at sign-up, and each kind can be switched off from the link in every such email or in your account settings. Product news is sent only if you opt in.
• To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and comply with the law.

3. Cookies

We use strictly-necessary first-party cookies for authentication and freemium metering. These are required for the Service to function and do not track you across other sites. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with processors that help us operate: our payment provider and merchant of record (Polar), our database and hosting infrastructure, and our email delivery provider (Amazon Web Services, via Amazon SES). Each processes data on our behalf under contract.

5. Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data; we may retain limited records (e.g. payment records) where required for legal or accounting purposes.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these, email info@savemycert.com.

7. Security

We protect your data with measures including password hashing (Argon2id), encrypted transport (HTTPS), a strict content-security policy, and least-privilege access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

8. Browser extension

The SaveMyCert Chrome extension (“Daily Cloud Cert Drill”) works without an account and collects no personal data. Specifically:

• Stored in your browser only: the certification you picked, today’s drill progress, and an optional exam date you type. The exam date is never sent to us.
• Sent to SaveMyCert: a random anonymous identifier we issue when the extension first runs, the certification you’re practising, and your answers. We use these only to serve questions and explanations and to count the free daily question limit. The identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any account.
• Not collected: your browsing history, the pages you visit, cookies from other sites, or any data from the tabs you have open. The extension talks only to savemycert.com.
• Not sold or shared: extension data is never sold, used for advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness.

Removing the extension deletes everything it stored in your browser. Anonymous practice sessions on our servers expire automatically after 30 days.
