Where to start with Scrum.org
Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) is the Scrum.org exam we cover, and it is a foundational one: no prerequisites, and no hands-on experience assumed. That makes it a genuine entry point rather than something to work up to.
Pair it with hands-on work rather than a second certification: what you have actually built carries an interview further than a second credential does.
How Scrum.org certifications are renewed
Renewal is the cost people forget, and it varies more between vendors than the exam fees do.
Scrum.org certifications such as PSM I are lifetime certifications: there is no expiry, no renewal exam and no annual fee.
Scrum.org sells each test password in US dollars, plus any taxes where you live. A password does not expire but is valid for one attempt only, so a retake means buying another. Check the certification page for the current price. See Scrum.org’s own certification page for the current terms.
