Every attempt draws questions you haven't met yet first · Pro.
A full-length paper drawn to the same domain weights, from the questions we rate hardest — the ones that combine two facts or weigh workable options against each other.
One exam domain at the real exam's pace — for the domain your last mock went worst in.
What's in a Terraform 004 mock paper
Each paper draws its questions per domain in the same proportions HashiCorp publishes for the real Terraform 004 — so a mock that goes badly in one domain is telling you something a randomly-drawn quiz couldn't.

| Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform | 8% | 5 | 9% |

What a Terraform 004 paper is shaped like
Which way this particular paper applies pressure.
The clock
At roughly 1.1 minutes a question, this is one of the faster papers you can sit. There is no time to deliberate: you read, decide, and move. Candidates who fail this format usually knew the material and ran out of clock, so treat pacing as a skill to rehearse in its own right rather than something that will sort itself out on the day.
The weighting
The weighting is unusually flat — 8 domains with no single one dominating, the largest being Terraform configuration at 22%. Nothing can be safely skipped, and there is no high-weight domain to carry a gap. Breadth beats depth on this paper.
The standard
HashiCorp publishes no pass mark for the Terraform 004: results are reported as pass or fail. Our mocks score you on the 100–1000 scale with a line at 700, which is our yardstick, not the vendor's. Treat a result just over it as a fail in disguise and book only with a clear margin.

What trips people up on a Terraform Associate mock
This is the fastest paper here by some distance, and it is also split across more domains than anything else in the catalogue. The combination is what makes it deceptively hard: the material is not deep, but there is a lot of it and no time to deliberate on any single item. People fail this exam on pace far more often than on understanding.
Because the weighting is unusually flat, there is nothing to prioritise and nothing safe to skip. Configuration and the core workflow are the largest slices, but every domain is small enough that missing one entirely costs you a pass. Breadth is the whole strategy.
State management questions are where most marks are lost. They require knowing what Terraform does to state at each step rather than which command you would type, and that mental model is either present or it is not — drilling more questions on it without going back to the notes rarely moves the score.
Questions often turn on precise command and block behaviour — what a given operation does to state, what is written where, what is required versus optional. That level of detail does not survive passive reading, and it is the most common reason a mock score sits below the confidence built from notes alone.
Given how fast the paper moves, sit your mocks strictly to time from the first one rather than working up to it. A comfortable score achieved with the clock ignored tells you nothing useful about this exam in particular, and pacing is the variable most likely to be the difference on the day.
