What's in a SAP-C03 mock paper

Each paper draws its questions per domain in the same proportions AWS publishes for the real SAP-C03 — so a mock that goes badly in one domain is telling you something a randomly-drawn quiz couldn't.

What a SAP-C03 paper is shaped like

Which way this particular paper applies pressure.

The clock

At roughly 2.4 minutes a question, the clock is not the enemy here — the scenarios are. Questions on this paper tend to be longer and more layered, and the time is given to you because you need to read carefully. The failure mode is the opposite of a fast paper: drifting, re-reading, and second-guessing answers you had right the first time.

The weighting

Architecture Design and Implementation Built for the Cloud is the largest domain at 25%, but with 5 domains in play no single one decides the result. A mock score here is usually a fair reflection of overall coverage rather than a verdict on one topic.

The standard

The pass mark is 720 on the 100–1000 scale. Because scaling adjusts for the difficulty of the particular set you were served, there is no fixed number of questions that guarantees it — which is exactly why a single mock result means less than a consistent one.

What trips people up on an SAP-C03 mock

Stamina is the first thing an SAP-C03 mock tests. The scenarios are long — several accounts, a migration in flight, a compliance rule and a budget in one stem — and the options are long too, often four complete architectures that differ in a single component. Candidates who pass the associate exams comfortably still run short of time here because they read every option in full. Read the last sentence of the stem first, note the deciding constraint, then scan the options for the one component that differs.

Most wrong answers on this exam would work. The paper asks for the option that meets every stated requirement with the least operational effort, the lowest cost or the smallest change, and the distractors usually satisfy all but one of those words. When you review a mock, write down which constraint each wrong pick broke; the same few (operational overhead, cross-account access, cost) tend to repeat.

Multiple-response items are all-or-nothing: AWS gives credit only when you select every correct response, so picking two of the three correct options scores the same as picking none. Treat each option as a true-or-false statement about the scenario rather than looking for the best-sounding set, and expect some select-three items.

The organisation-wide view is what separates this exam from SAA-C03. Questions assume AWS Organizations, Control Tower, delegated administrators and shared services by default, and an answer that fixes the problem in one account is often wrong because the scenario has two hundred. AI architecture questions follow the same pattern: they are about where Amazon Bedrock, knowledge bases and agents sit in a governed estate, who can call them and what they cost, not about training models.

Cost optimization and migration are the two smaller domains, and they are where a mock score is most often lost quietly. They read like design questions but turn on purchase options, data-transfer paths and migration tooling details that architects who build greenfield systems rarely touch. If either trails on two mocks in a row, it is cheaper to close than another pass over the larger domains.
