Every attempt draws questions you haven't met yet first · Pro.
A full-length paper drawn to the same domain weights, from the questions we rate hardest — the ones that combine two facts or weigh workable options against each other.
One exam domain at the real exam's pace — for the domain your last mock went worst in.
What's in a DVA-C03 mock paper
Each paper draws its questions per domain in the same proportions AWS publishes for the real DVA-C03 — so a mock that goes badly in one domain is telling you something a randomly-drawn quiz couldn't.
| Domain | Official weight | Questions drawn | Share of paper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Development with AWS Services | 30% | 20 | 31% |
| Security | 26% | 17 | 26% |
| Testing and Deployment | 22% | 14 | 22% |
| Troubleshooting and Optimization | 22% | 14 | 22% |
| Total | 100% | 65 | 100% |
What a DVA-C03 paper is shaped like
Which way this particular paper applies pressure.
The clock
At roughly 2 minutes a question, the clock is not the enemy here — the scenarios are. Questions on this paper tend to be longer and more layered, and the time is given to you because you need to read carefully. The failure mode is the opposite of a fast paper: drifting, re-reading, and second-guessing answers you had right the first time.
The weighting
Development with AWS Services is the largest domain at 30%, but with 4 domains in play no single one decides the result. A mock score here is usually a fair reflection of overall coverage rather than a verdict on one topic.
The standard
The pass mark is 720 on the 100–1000 scale. Because scaling adjusts for the difficulty of the particular set you were served, there is no fixed number of questions that guarantees it — which is exactly why a single mock result means less than a consistent one.

What trips people up on a DVA-C03 mock
DVA-C03 keeps the Developer exam’s habit of testing behaviour at the API level — what a call returns, what happens on a retry, which identity a piece of code runs as — but it now asks the same questions about AI services. A mock item on Amazon Bedrock is rarely about which model is best (model selection is out of scope); it is about how your code calls the service, streams a response, handles throttling and keeps a guardrail in the request path. If you studied the AI material as concepts rather than as APIs, that gap shows up on a mock first.
The security domain now includes a task on securing AI services and agents. Misses there are usually about where a control lives: what the agent’s execution role may touch, what a guardrail filters, and what still has to be validated in your own code. Treat an agent like any other caller with credentials and most of these questions resolve themselves.
Containers moved closer to the centre. Deployment questions expect you to know how an image gets from a build to Amazon ECR and on to ECS, EKS or Fargate, alongside the Lambda and SAM material the older exam leaned on. Learners coming from DVA-C02 study notes tend to under-prepare here.
Several questions describe an AI coding assistant or an AI-generated test or fix and ask what you should still check. The exam treats these tools as helpers whose output a developer reviews — the right answer is rarely “accept the suggestion”, and rarely “ban the tool”. Read for the step that verifies the result.
The domains are close together in weight, so no single domain can carry a weak one. Use the per-domain figures across several mock attempts rather than the latest paper: the domain that stays mid-table is the one costing you the pass.
